About Roy

Hi, I’m Roy.

A food storyteller, self-taught recipe developer, food stylist, photographer, avid traveller — and by day, a mobile developer in an investment bank.

Yes, I’ve returned to the fast-paced world of tech, but I haven’t left behind the slow pleasures of simmering spices, chasing golden light for that perfect shot, or scribbling recipe ideas between code deployments. Creativity lives in both my IDE and my kitchen.

“Heuristic Kitchens” is where I explore food as both a memory and a muse — from smoky street snacks to delicate desserts that blur cultural lines. Born in a town where neighbours fed each other without asking, where kitchens were always warm and open, I grew up with a mixed, vibrant plate and a deep respect for hospitality.

Now I live in England with my husband, daughter and son — in a land where table manners matter and tea solves most things. But my spirit still lives out of a suitcase, and condenast remains my comfort read.

I’ve learned to love the food I once pushed away as a child — perhaps because no one makes it for me anymore. My basil plant drinks the last bit of milk (only the un-creamed part, of course), and my appetite is always gargantuan. That’s not just about food — it’s about life.

This blog is my way of feeding the world in the way I know best: through stories, photographs, and flavours that travel across borders. Whether food is a filler or a healer, it always teaches me something.

Welcome to my kitchen — heuristic, heartfelt, and sometimes hilariously improvised. I hope you leave a little fuller than you came.

“…one of the pleasantest of all emotions is to know that I, I with my brain and my hands, have nourished my beloved few…”
