Apologies, for such a long gap between posts. But it’s just that summer’s been knocking at the door and it was time to let it in. Loads of background work going on with a brewing cherub to give me company and series of travels planned. It’s really hard to concentrate on all my babies.
The reason I posted this video is for two primary reasons, A) I am finding it difficult to multitask….a blog post on my website takes me a minimum of two weeks to plan as I work on a top-down approach. First the anecdote then a recipe to go with it, the photo shoot, lighting and arrangements and the post processing. Its seems quite elaborate and that is the reason I am unable to cope.
B) I have a highly energetic toddler to give me company who wants to collaborate for every new venture that I start. So here I am with a video shot by my hubby and protagonist by none other than but my cherub.I started as the spot boy and later promoted to an editor.
Each time I make a chapati she is there with her turn to make her own round chapati. Each time I stir the soup she will be there to give her finishing touch maybe a stir or just a drizzle of seasoning. While I cut swiftly with a chef’s knife, she is insistent on using the knife so it’s either the butter knife or the plastic knife which confesses I cannot cut in her hands. All in the name of fine motor skills.
Every child has a beautiful bond with the parent and this summer take an extra step by avoiding the mobile and providing means of high energy environment for the children to flourish and learn. The best way to make them interested is pass the baton in their hands and let them finish the race.
Summers are always bright and sunny, so lets enjoy it naughty with your little one in the kitchen whipping up this summary treat with loads of berries and fun.
Tukmaria seeds or sabja is a widely used in India as they are the seeds of the holy plant Tulsi. While growing up they were used especially in the summer. Though they resemble chia seeds but they are quite different in benefits. Both are gelatinous when dissolved in water. I prefer giving it to children because of its high content of natural omega 3 fatty acid and curb the heat retention by the body. Apart from that you can read about tons of benefits over the internet.
I prefer a lot of berries in summer because they are a very rich source of Vitamin C.
- 300 g strawberries,hulled
- 300 ml milk
- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream (Best choice but you can always go for other options)
- 1 tbsp Tukmaria seeds
- Put the hulled strawberries into a blender with the milk and ice cream and tukamaria seeds. Blend until smooth and creamy. As you can see I have added no sugar as fruits have a lot of natural sugar and the vanilla ice cream compensates for anything missing.
- You could always be more generous and serve it with another dollop of ice cream. 🙂
Lovely video involving your little one in recipe making. Always look forward to your post.
