I hate Milk

Every Time I had any cough or cold my mum would make a kadha or use hot mustard oil to get rid of it. Only once when I had jaundice as a kid then I had to try two alternate medicines which I hated one was turmeric milk and the other was raw egg in milk. At the age of 7 I swore to myself I am never going to sample these in my life again.

When I got married into a Maharashtrian family then Aai my MIL got two good habits into our everyday life. One was vegetable soup and the other was Haldi Doodh. I absolutely hated turmeric milk like anything. So the basil or tulsi plant suddenly showed good growth with all the calcium and vitamin D that it received.

Then my dear hubby found a solution to the problem. He sought out raw turmeric and we started a process similar to floral infusion. So the raw turmeric was ground and par boiled with pasteurised milk. (Technically you should not boil pasteurised milk) Then we left it overnight in the fridge only to have a cup of it the next day. This has been a practise which we have followed for the last few years. It continues everyday till today.

My kids love though the LO needed a bit of convincing in a way that if he drinks yellow milk he turns into Yellow Hulk. Strong , brave and invincible 😊

What are your ways to build your family’s immunity ?
