Real Food Market London

Real Food Market

I think in this packet world of supermarket it is so difficult to remain real. What is real food ? I think in a few days Oxford dictionary would be able to provide us a definition of the same. Something fresh and organic like we have seen our grandparents eat.I am sure if mine were alive they would vouch for fresh produce rather than fertilised garbage which me eat.Real food Market in London promises a lot of fresh produce from small time producers.

Quoting the market owners “There is beef from cattle fed on grass, muesli from cereals free of pesticides, grown on soil packed with a billion micronutrients; cheeses with such distinctive flavours, the freshest, seasonal fruit and vegetables, artisan breads of amazing diversity and taste, charcuterie, chocolates and desserts all sold to you with an enthusiasm, passion and knowledge that no supermarket employee will ever match”.

Most importantly to any foodie enthusiast the entry is free and I come with a huge baggage of trio family so free things are always welcome 😉 The real food harvest festival is an offspring of the real food market which is held every month but at a very larger magnitude with a turnover of 50,000 people.

There are so many food stalls which keep your taste buds salivating for more. They is mouth-watering delicacies prepared from the real food and the aroma engulfs the entire area. You just need to get off Waterloo station and follow the crowd its like little ants following the trail of food.

The market aims to be a feast for all the senses as summer moves into autumn and a new season of local and ethically produced food looms are available for buy.My personal favourites are the chorizo and seasonal fruits.

Real Food Harvest Festival

Real Food Harvest Festival

Celebrating, championing and supporting the very best, ethical and sustainable food, the festivals are about bringing people together to enjoy and reconnect with food and those who produce it.A lot of aspects of the festival are overlapping with the real food markets.

My highlight of the festival is the chef’s theatre where the host demonstrates some foodie tricks and stirs up his magic. Some of the very famous names of the London food industry frequent this festival.

#A confessions of a food blogger and a self-confessed chef.Remember I have a heavenly cherub my almost four-year old toddler now with me.To her food means nothing beyond her rollicky ice creams, slurp yoghurt and fruits. So I need to keep her entertained and that is what I really love about this festival is that they allow me to keep my toddler busy and give them such a fun experience.

Last year we had the sheep show where they had a tiny stage for dancing sheep and sheep shearing. The kids can feed lambs and pigs at the mini farm which is quite a good way to have them learn about farm animals and their habits.

So if you are in London and enjoy fresh produce and relishing as well. This market is a treat and a wonderful platform for artisan producers to showcase their products and celebrate their sustainability and ethnicity. Don’t miss the real food harvest festival and the real food markets which are miniature versions happening every month at the south bank centre.
